Third International Meeting on Crete
(2–6 June 2013)
The third international meeting was held on Crete again, this time in early June 2013,
and the Czech Republic sent out 8 representatives (6 persons from the Regional Authority
ofthePilsenRegion,1personfromtheSecondaryVocationalSchoolandVocationalTrainingSchool
in Horšovský Týn and 1 person from the Children and Youth Centre in Horažďovice). The third
international meeting was concerned mainly with environmental education and its integra-
tion into teaching. The participants appreciated especially their visits of the Environmental
Centre and the Minoan Path. Next on the agenda was a discussion with the representatives
of the regional government (e.g. the mayors of Heraklion and Phaistos) who talked about the is-
sues concerning environmental tourism (including its integration into the secondary education)
and their planned solutions to the issues. Moreover, they also provided valuable information on
continuing education of adults. A visit of the centre for practical training of secondary school stu-
dents represented another important item on the agenda. The participants further exchanged
and deepened their experience and knowledge there, especially in the field of technical edu-
cation from the perspective of sustainable development and integration of environmental
education therein.
