Environmental Tourism – Alternative Ways
The project entitled„Environmental Tourism – AlternativeWays“ is a joint project of two part-
ner regions – Pilsen Region and Crete. The project has been created under the „Comenius Regio
Partership“ programme and it focuses especially on environmental education in conjunction
with travelling and sustainable tourism as well as their integration into the education system
in both regions. The project is primarily aimed at a mutual exchange of knowledge and experien-
ce in the aforementioned fields.
Why Pilsen Region and Crete?
At first glance, the connection of the Pilsen Region and Crete may seem a little unusual but
both regions have much in common. Apart from a comparable area and population, both regi-
ons have a very similar education system. One of the main common features of education both
in the Pilsen Region and on Crete lies in a growing interest in environmental education and its
integration into teaching at all levels of the education system. This is why the environmental
education is one of the key topics of the project.
